Call for Artists
You are not limited to painting, any art medium you choose to create en plein air will qualify. The gate opens for artists check-in at 7:00 a.m. You MUST have your canvas, paper, or choice or art surface (any size) stamped before you begin to create or paint. Studies for Field to Finish can be no smaller than 5” x 7” nor larger than 12” x 12”. You do not have to be there at 7:00 a.m., but all artwork must be completed and submitted for judging no later than 2:00 p.m. Artwork labels and any additional information will be provided at check-in. Framing is optional but highly recommended. Please supply easels to display your art since it is not possible to hang paintings.
The juror is Carolyn L. Roth. Cash and purchase awards will be presented. Artists will display their plein air artwork 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in The Garden. You may sell your art commission free.
Entry fee - $25.00 per adult artist 18 and over - entrants under age 18 are FREE. Those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All under 18 must have parental permission.
In the event of inclement weather, we will make every effort to schedule a rain-out date. There will be no refund if we must cancel this event because of inclement weather. The Art Guild will supply snacks and water, so even if you’re under 18, let us know you’re coming.

Owensboro Art Guild’s plein air art event will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden located at 2731 W. 2nd Street, Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Also this year we are adding a Field to Finish competition. With twelve acres in The Garden, we will have plenty of room to spread out. You may access The Garden the week leading up to this event free of charge to scout out a place to set up and create art.
